impACT, our CSR strategy for 2030

We want to be a company with a positive, regenerating impact.

Zoom in on the arms of four people checking hands

At Expanscience, our purpose is to help individuals shape their well-being. We are convinced that this well-being cannot be separated from that of the planet and that companies have a key role to play in preserving it. This is why we have acted to reduce our imprint on people and the planet and reinvent ourselves.

A new stage in our commitment

From joining the United Nations Global Compact in 2004, to our first cycle of commitments in 2010, via our Better Living Program to contribute to our communities living better in 2015 and our B Corp certification in 2018, we have come a long way!

Today, in light of the environmental and social challenges worldwide, we are more determined than ever to do more. As a B CORP company, we want to contribute to a better world Our impACT program marks a major turning point for our company and sets us on our pathway to 2030/2040.

What is our ambition for tomorrow with impACT? We want to be a company with a positive, regenerative impact. In concrete terms, this means that we act so that our activities, products and services will preserve resources while leaving the least possible trace on ecosystems, or even that they will contribute to restoring them and creating social and societal value.

“Regeneration is a word that shouldn’t be overused. It evokes the notion of respect and humility toward nature: we work with nature so that it flourishes. This is a positive vision of ecology.”

Major challenges

Our impACT strategy meets 4 strategic objectives in relation to our reason for being to help individuals shape their well-being.

  1. Design products and services that are useful to well-being, eco-socio designed and increasingly inspired by nature and living things.

  2. Contribute to reaching planetary climate goals and to the protection and regeneration of biodiversity.

  3. Help our employees take an active part in their personal fulfillment and construct a more inclusive and supportive company with them.

  4. Mobilize our communities and ecosystems to build together business models with a positive impact on society, individuals and their environment.

Among our key commitments

To reduce our greenhouse gas emissions:

As we are a mission-driven company, we have an important role to play in reducing our impact on climate change and adapting our operations to engage in a low-carbon transition.

To do so, Expanscience has established a proactive approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions related to its activities in recent years. We conducted our first carbon assessment in 2008, and in 2019 we carried out a complete inventory of our emissions including all the group’s activities and our international subsidiaries.

In 2023, we set a new milestone by committing to the Science-based Targets initiative: our path to reducing our GHG emissions (on scopes 1, 2, 3) was validated as compatible with the IPCC recommendations: limiting temperature rises to 1.5°C compared to pre-industrial levels.

In concrete terms, this means that we will:

  • reduce our GHG emissions by 35% by 2030 (compared to 2019);

    That is, a reduction of our absolute GHG emissions by 46.2% in 100% for our scopes 1 and 2, and a reduction of 46.2% in 73% for our scope 3 (i.e. products and services purchased, emissions linked to fuels and energy, business travel and commuting, goods transport, distribution and end-of-life of our products) by 2030 compared to 2019

  • reduce our GHG emissions by 81% by 2050 (compared to 2019);

    That is, a reduction of our absolute GHG emissions by 90% in 95% for our scopes 1 and 2 and a reduction of 90% in 90% for our scope 3, by 2050 compared to 2019

  • ensure that our GHG emissions that can't be reduced are stored sustainably using natural carbon sinks (trees, soil, plants, etc.) by 2050.
